In Guadalcanal – The Battle for Henderson Field, you take control of the valiant Marines of the 1st Marine Division, supported by the soldiers of the 164th Infantry Regiment, desperately defending Henderson Field against waves of attacking Imperial Japanese Army troops of the 17th Army. Low on supplies and ammunition the Marines must protect the airfield from capture. Without the air cover from Henderson Field, Vice Admiral Nagumo's approaching carrier group, could inflict a decisive, perhaps Pacific-war-ending, attack on the US Navy in the Solomons. The goal of Guadalcanal – The Battle for Henderson Field is to hold out until the last Banzai charge has failed, Rear Admiral Takama's No. 2 Bombardment Force, led by the light cruiser Yura, has been turned back, Vice Admiral Nagumo's carrier force has been located and Colonel Oka’s final assault has been defeated.
